Kids & Cops Art Competition Winners

The Kids and Cops Art Competition is sponsored through the Sorenson Legacy Foundation with the Unified Police Department.  The purpose of the competition is to help foster a relationship of trust and mutual respect between law enforcement and the community, brought together through art. Students were given the task of creating an original piece of art to support reducing violence, bullying and drugs, and discouraging unsafe practices such as texting an driving. A special thanks to our AMAZING Beverley Taylor Sorenson Art teacher, April Barnes, who provided mini lessons on these topics and facilitated an opportunity for all of our students to participate in this contest.

Thursday, November 16th: “We are putting a CAP on drugs” – Hat Day

Thank you to all of our students who participated in the the 2017-18 National PTA Reflections contest.  We appreciate the support of JSD Board Member Darrell Robinson for joining us to recognize our 2017-18 Reflections participants and winners at our Reflections Awards Night on Thursday, October 26th.

 

Thank you to the Utah Rotary Club for visiting BCE and distributing dictionaries to our 3rd grade students!  “Rotarians and their clubs throughout District 5420 have distributed dictionaries to 3rd grade students in Utah by partnering with the Dictionary Projects.”

 

 

 

Thank you to our amazing PTA for putting together a successful Color Obstacle Course Fundraiser!

Dear Parents and Students of Butterfield Canyon Elementary,

I am delighted to introduce myself as your new assistant principal and look forward to serving the Butterfield Canyon Community. As a Utah native and Herriman City resident I already feel at home here and look forward to supporting the school mission of LEAD: Learning Daily, Empowering Leadership, Achieving Goals and Discovering Potential.

Jordan School District’s mission statement, “Every Child, Every Day” does a nice job of summing up my most basic personal philosophy of education. As an educator, I maintain a strong focus on student learning and the whole child. Building positive relationships and a collaborative working environment are of utmost importance to me.

My background as an educator includes teaching at the elementary level for many years, as well as completing administrative internships at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and young people of all ages, and absolutely loved my years as a classroom teacher. Most recently I served as a teacher facilitator at Herriman Elementary, coaching intern and new teachers and assisting with administrative duties. My passion for nurturing all educators, but especially new teachers, blossomed with this position. I’m excited to work with the teachers of Butterfield Canyon. I was also fortunate to work with Ms. Bollinger at Herriman Elementary and couldn’t be happier about joining her at Butterfield Canyon!

I have heard wonderful things about the Butterfield Canyon community. I look forward to meeting you and assisting each of your students in their individual educational needs. Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Dear Butterfield Canyon Elementary Community,

I am looking forward to working with the great community of Butterfield Canyon Elementary (BCE). As an educator, I am student-focused, results-oriented, and collaborative. My goal is to always do what is in the best interest of students.

­

I taught special education at Cottonwood High School for 7 years and was also the Head Girls’ Basketball and Soccer coach. My next adventure was teaching special education at Bluffdale Elementary for 8 years. This past year I was fortunate to be the Assistant Principal at both BCE and Herriman Elementary. I believe that my variety of professional experiences throughout the past 16 years will allow me to better understand and help meet the diverse needs of all students.

My vision is to continually increase the quality of education by providing instructional leadership for data-driven decision making to improve learning for ALL students, foster an effective professional learning community enhanced through professional development, and maintaina safe environment conducive to learning and teaching.

Education is my passion and I fully support Jordan School District’s Mission Statement: “Every Child, Every Day.” Please know that I am here to serve the children and people in the BCE community. I am happy to address any questions or concerns to ensure that every child’s educational needs are met each day.

The BCE community is amazing and I feel so blessed to be a part of this unique school culture. I look forward to getting to know all of you. Thank you for all you do to support the education of your student(s).

We want to send out a big thank you to all who joined us for the Color Run and silent auction Friday evening. Despite the weather, the run was a success and we enjoyed many fun activities inside the comfort of our great school. We are grateful for your support as students, parents and PTA.
