Our November Hello theme is Gratitude. As one of our Hello activities for the month Mrs Barnes, our BTS art teacher, had all the students add their handprint to a banner for our Herriman Police Department to say "Thank You" for all their hard work! Today some of our BCE Student Council members explained our kindness campaign to the Police Department and that our school made this banner for them to show how grateful we are for them.

Introducing our 4th-6th Grade Intervention Teacher…
Due to our increased enrollment and large 4th-6th grade class sizes, we have been able to hire a new certified 4th-6th grade intervention teacher! Please help us welcome Sherry Sutton to our BCE Faculty:
It is an honor and privilege to join Butterfield Canyon Elementary School.
After graduating from Radford University in Virginia with a degree in Elementary Education, I spent most of my adult life in El Paso, TX. There, I raised three amazing children and worked for the El Paso Independent School District for 25 years, teaching kindergarten through sixth grade, and finally technology.
About a year ago, I moved to Salt Lake to be closer to two of my children and three—soon to be four—grandchildren.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with them, traveling, photography and mountain biking.
I am looking forward to this opportunity and very excited to be a Bobcat!

Butterfield Canyon First Graders Visit the State Senate
First grade students from Butterfield Canyon Elementary School recently visited the Utah State Capitol and the state Senate chamber.
Students met with District 13 State Senator Jacob Anderegg, whose district includes Butterfield Canyon Elementary. They have been studying the importance of rules and laws, so the field trip was a great way to show the students how laws are made and who represents them.
They were even introduced from the Senate floor and received a round of applause!
Congratulations Mrs. Joos!!!
Mrs. Joos recently received the Crystal Apple Award presented by Mario Pia from Horace Mann. Here is why she was nominated:
